    Mk1 Capri

Hi folks this is my first post on here. This forum kept popping up when I was searching for info in Mk1 Capris so I figured I would be better joining.

After moving to France I soon got bored of drinking wine and eating cheese so I went on a hunt for a classic Ford project to chuck a Cosworth BOA engine I took with me into. I looked at a few rusty wrecks and was very close to buy one when an absolute gem came up on the French version of gumtree (leboncoin). it's a 1972 facelift with a very under powered 1300 Pinto. The original owner died in 76 and it was parked in a garage until 2007 when the guy I bought it from bought it and did the bare minimum to put it back on the road. It only has 62000km on the clock (about 40k miles) and is in excellent condition. As I said my original plan was to chuck in a Cosworth V6 but now I don't really want to do anything that won't be reversible. So my plans have had to change slightly....think I might just end up just going for a nice set of wheels, a decent suspension and brake setup and possibly a 2L pinto. Anyway here are some pictures.....

Could someone tell me what axle this is....

from what I've read online it's an atlas because it has a bold on diff cover. Is that correct?

    I hope you like!

    Cheers,

    Kev.

Hi very nice car I'm not a 100% on the axle but it might be a Koln type.

very nice! also the axle does indeed look atlas, very odd to get on a 1300 mk1 though, would normally only ever see an atlas up front of a mk1 if it was a 3 litre. that's the french for you though lol. if that is a 3 litre axle fitting which someone may have done in the past. you might have the 3.09 3 litre gearing, which along with the poor little 1300 pinto would make the old girl very slow lol
its not dead till it's buried!
