Xe escort getting hot
My xe powered 4 door keeps getting hot and blowing it's water out, it's fitted with some sort of e36 BMW rad. The engine doesn't stay hot for long once turned off which is strange :s. Could it be rad cap??? I was told the engine was recently rebuilt and this appears to be correct. Any ideas if it needs a different rad??? Or a rad with expansion tank??? All ideas welcome cheers

Re: Xe escort getting hot
show us a pic of the rad, an e36 rad will need plumbing in correctly and you need to bleed it to ensure the core is actually full of water.

Don't think it's running a stat.

Re: Xe escort getting hot
I know it needs a set up of carbs and management as it's only on a base map but I presume this isn't vital to stop it boiling over so much???

Re: Xe escort getting hot
you would probably be better off with a rad intended for an escort.
how is the bmw rad plumbed? for it to work properly it needs the small pipe at the bottom of the side tank connected. also to fill it you should open the bleed screw on the top of the rad and pour coolant in the side until coolant comes out the bleed screw.

Yeh both of those have been done mate. Some of the pipe work isn't great so I'm gonna try that then try a headgasket tester
