OK; much better now.
The idle had to be kept very high; 12-1500 or else it would die off. Had base timing set to 14 degrees. Carbs synced, carbs clean, fresh fuel and idle screws in tested position.
The carbs sneezed a bit in idle. I gave it a though, looked up in the weber litterature and found two Things to test: More fuel and more timing.
Gave the idel screws 1/2 round to 1 3/4 turns out. Not any better so I started moving the timing.
By hand, blindfolded, moved the 1/2 inch and started engine. Much better!
The vacuum were still on the dist and when I pressed the timing light trigger, the timing showed up far, far away from the timing Points on the ilder cover...... Did a little back and foth and it semmed to be running best close to where I was. Unfortunately, I did not check With the vacum disconnected. Will do to see where it is.
Was concerned it was gonna pink, but it didn't. even in 5. low RPMs and uphill. (Low comp Stock pistons installed)
My questions are:
Has anyone seen this With their Essex too; timing have to be really high for good idle?
My engine is built With parts from different engines/ years. Has the pulley/ timing marks been changed somewhere in the Production life of the V6? (As far as I have figured...No, but who knows.....?)
Thanks
RuneS.
checking the timing with the vac connected to the dizzy is a no no
