I found this forum whilst surfing the web for gearbox options for a 2.8 Cologne engine. Lots of good information on here, so I thought I'd sign up and introduce myself.
From my username I'm sure you'll all have worked out that I'm a big fan of Tamworth's finest plastic cars, which you'll know were almost all powered by Ford Essex/Cologne and CVH units (yes there were a few with K Series and Nissan S12's too). I've had about 14 Scimitars, so I'm quite familiar with the Essex & Cologne engines. I also had plenty of Mk1 Escorts in my youth (Who'd have thought they'd be worth something one day?).
I currently have a Scimitar GTC Auto with the 2.8 Carb Cologne engine. I'm looking to convert this to a manual with an RX8 box. I'm also hoping that I can eventually get the engine to the boys in Darwin for a 3.5 stroker conversion (I had one in another GTC I used to own and it was unbelievably torquey for a Cologne). I also have a Scimitar SS1 that I use for Sprints and Hill Climbs, this has the CA18DET S13 engine with an S15 turbo. It has a Sierra Viscous LSD, 1B tyres, and whole host of go faster bits.
Looking forward to reading some of the project threads on here and stealing some ideas
