Hi, I'm after a Mk 1 escort Rs2000 crossmember please.

Rare as Hens teeth there is a guy on here called Errol he has the plates to weld on to make normal cross members into Rs type maybe some other members could shed some light on who the guy is on here

are mk1's different to mk2's ?

Theres several varieties but nothing that matters.as above mk1 rs has reinforcing plates.

there are more holes on the under side of the cross member on a mk1 than a mk2

top one is a mk1 rs crossmember (i think) and the one below is from a mk2 gl escort.underneath they look similar,the tca holes are in different places and the engine mount holes are lower on the rs one too.

I have never seen different TCA holes. This is only for Capri MK1 RS to Std. The RS crossmember has gussets inside the Engine Tower and between the horizont and vertikal. Only the early MK1 have Holes for Engine mounts and later have slots. The conversion std to RS is very easy to do.

i've measured the holes and they are different.

the last 2 are measured from the bottom of the slot for the engine mounts.

I have the crossmember base plate and also the crossmemeber convert kits in stock.

As far as I know the TCA holes are in different places on the mk2 crossmember anyway.

Yes you just need to weld in the convert kit and they are then the same.

as I have my November 74 Rs cross member out I measured the tc arm bolt hole and it is a different height to a normal escort cross member



the plate around the hole is also a different shape towards the bottom of the cross member



the plate above the tc arm is also cut and repositioned to allow the tc arm to be raised in height



an early cross member standard with more holes in the under side and a late mk 1 Rs with the same cross member as fitted to the mk2 Rs
