Lol...well ive had 3 fires...none caused by the battery next to fuel tank... 1st fire caused when the alternater live wire melted on the exhaust manifold and shorted to earth and engine bay wiring loom caught fire...2nd fire..after winning a race on 3 cylinders (plug cap came off after a little push) the engine decided it wasnt happy and emptied its oil all over the engine...did my lap of honour..got back in the car started it,, and up in flames the engine went..3rd fire in my tow vehicle(mk2 transit) late nighter...getting the cars moved from a-b in a vehicle with no tax mot ect..midnight run..engine threw a rod..but i carried on for as long as i could..got of the main road into a side road..pulled over and stopped...engine was smoking bad..opened the bonnet and the carb was on fire and melted...closed the bonnet...found a gallon of ant-freeze in the back..threw it on the fire(who knew anti-freeze was flammable?) bigger fire...shut the bonnet again windscreen was now cracked and melted...we found this all very funny..and we were thinking about doimg a runner...when we spotted a horse trough full of water..which saved the day....but the van was toaste...lol...
    cheers mark

We ended up modding the g/box Xmember as it interfered with the exhaust by putting an upward kink in it. As to the design Im not sure as I just pay the bills but the boys know what they are doing.

They usually build off road 4wd's so everything is usually over designed and braced.

    Cheers
