    Retroford RWD sump

First time entering discussion on retroford sump with rx8 gearbox using freddy adapter plate
Having tried and tested retroford parts before with no issues so far decided to remove sump and clean block to fit.
The first issue was the sump fouled on adapter plate very slightly sat forward too much to align holes rectified by taking a little off sump casing not much just by sump drain plug
Then before i fully torqued sump to block, thought i would check if starter would clear, no joy as bottom hole was obstructed by sump casting.
Thats it i thought sump going back and steel mock up going back on.
Had enough went home slept on it, after cleaning sump back up and seal after having sealant on it.
Next day fresh and a different approach did a dry run.
Mocked up sump with two bolts and proceded to see how i could mount bottom starter hole.
The only way is tap a m12 x 1.5 thread in starter and drill out the 10mm hole in adapter plate to except 12mm bolt. Then come in through bell housing, cant use hex bolt, cant get the turn only a 30mm long m12 allen bolt.
Lucky for me it works very well, im using a auto sierra starter, cant remember the part number.
Thought i would post this just in case anyone else out there wants to use retroford rear bowl alloy sump with Rx8 box using the very well made freddy adapter plates they give perfect clearance and no starter issues, spins very freely, splines made perfect.
