Great to join this Forum and good news re the guards (wings). Being an ex Customs man the guards and shell would not be subject to Copyright. Ford have the Copyright on their logo (badge) and all product bearing it. The car parts however are not subject to that. The shell would be considered a part... not a car therefore not subject to crash testing or anything else. As it is designed for a motorvehicle more than 30yrs old it would not be subject to import duty if you live in New Zealand. Other countries ring a Customs Broker and ask using the chapter 8703 BTN number 8707.10.for the shell, and the guards (wings) come under 8708.29 or 8708.99. I would be interested in a set of wings and would think given the Rally guys we could do a few shells here as well.
More good news.

The thing with people waiting on the arrival of these new wings is that there has been no hint of how much they will be and in all honesty and after speaking to a few traders etc at various shows even at classic ford @ santa pod alot of people (the buying public ) seem to think there going to be cheap about 80 - 100 quid a wing but with all the time and money invested there going to be probably double that i would have thought..........

correct and true, big difference, i had to get a confirmed order for a full container before i ccould procede, aas the factory would not tool up for a small run, it takes too long,as anyone who might know the tools take a while to set up. and in total there are over 20 tools, and i now have that and there is a full load bein made as we speak,
i would expect the std wings to be somewhre in region of 120 to 130st retail and the mex ones arounnd the 200 to 220st mark, the delay has cost quite a bit extra fir 2 reaons
1 rmb has strengthened agians euro as that was what i pay them in,
2 the price of raw steel is gone up,
both these i have no control over,
so when do you think they'll arrive in the uk then mate?
prices seem good imo.
well i promise the prices wont veer far away from that, i wanted to keep them as low as possible yet i do have to consider the tooling price, its based on selling 2000 wings thats 1000pair over next 18 month,, they have some made, but we wont ship till theres a full container plus 4 to 6 weeks by sea, early to mid sept is the aim,.
sorry for not posting any info b4 this, there wasnt alot to say.
but when our last samples came, we had them trial fitted on a pair of cars, and there were no problems,,
fingers crossed now,,
but yeah that pair of wings on e bay????? jesus,, and 25 bidders, thats crazy,,
prices are really good, AS LONG AS THEY FIT
Ive used some panels in the past which have been shocking
prices do seem good
at that price ill have a pair thanx

I'm needing a standard pair, i have fibre glass Mex ones but have held off from fitting them.
thanks for posiive feedback,
all involved wanted to keep the price as low as we could, bearing in mind that these were what turned out to be a 2 year project, and the press tool was not cheap..
if i had known to begin,,,, would i have done it,,, hell yeah,,
i enjoyed it, so whats next, shells seem to be a no go,, as i can get enough guaranteed interest,
Mk1 doors maybe??
"shells seem to be a no go"
Does this mean that you are giving up on shells for the moment? It would be a shame after the effort and the fact that there would be a real demand if they were a reality. If you could get confirmed prices then more might show an interest. It probably needs a little final push to make it happen - allthough the massive delay of the wings will have dented peoples trust in shells happening within a sensible timescale.
All the best with it all though.
I'd buy a Mk1 shell but its all too vague at the moment to commit any money.
I've asked this question in your threads on 3 forums: The rally shell prep companies are buying as many shells as they can get their hands on. They come to some firms from Australia etc by the container load.
Have you approached any of the companies to see if there is commercial interest?
I'd like a shell but private owners like me will only be interested in just one shell
What did these companies have to say? These are the people making a living out of building shells & may have money to invest

There must be loads more plus all the dozens of Escort parts suppliers.
I think your efforts so far have been amazing but ordinary people are not going to commit thousands of pounds based on some threads on car forums
I agree with the above. surely it's better to have big company funded shells than no shells?
having done a lot of the leg work to get prices and find a company who can make shells it looks like the next move, however against it you might be,is the bigger companys who's business ,in the longer term,is at stake without any new shells.great work so far
