    Citroen C2 Road Rally car

As you may have seen my Mini build, this is project no2. I decided since the Mini is a long term build, I would need a little something to get me back out competing. So I decided to build a budget road rally/Targa car.

I bought a cosmetically and mechanically challenges Citroen C2 VTS. It had a few issues which were rectified and the build soon got underway. All the work was carried out during the summer when we were locked down here in Wales so here’s some pics of the build so far.

Quick run down of the spec is. Its got a 4-1 manifold which has been de-catted ABS/TC has been disconnected, All road rally wiring has been done, spots, fan, interior light etc..., It has some fat KONI orange shocks paired with diesel springs for extra ground clearance for the whites and tracks, bucket seats, 5 point harnesess, 6 point bolt in cage.

Still to do, new brakes and fluid, sump guard and underbody protection, perspex front windows and some chunky tyres.

For now its been put away as there are no signs of any events happening soon due to the current covid restrictions we find ourselves with but as soon as there is a sign that things are moving then it'll come back out of storage to be finished properly.

I've entered a little rally sprint event that's happening in July (fingers crossed).
It'll be the first chance I've had to use the car properly and my first time competing behind the wheel again for 3 years. Few jobs to sort before it's ready to go but I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces and finding my own feet again.

Do the diesel springs increase the ride height much?

Sorry for the late reply. Everything went out the window over the summer as our little girl was in hospital for 2 months.

Due to the above, the car didn't get done and I withdrew from the sprint. There's a Targa rally happening locally to me on the 7th of November so that's the new target to aim for.

The diesel springs fitted have raised the height by a good 30mm so clearance shouldn't be an issue.

            Family always comes first.

Hope your little girl is now ok.

Looking forward to the resumption of the thread.

            Are we there yet?

After what feels like an eternity, the car will make it's competitive debut this Sunday on the 1000 Tests Targa event in Walters Arena.

Still a few jobs left to finish off but we'll get there. Hopefully have an update before the event with some pics.

So the 1000 Tests didn't go to plan unfortunately. I decent run through test 1 placed us 11th overall and we carried that pace into the second test. Unfortunately towards the end the roughness took its toll and both top mounts failed and we lost the exhaust aswell as a puncture so that was it.

Positives to take away from it is that after over 3 years of not competing, the cobwebs were well and truly blown away and also, the little C2 surprised me with its speed. It'll be repaired and strengthened but not sure where to go next. Debating keeping it as it is, upgrading it's spec and getting a Motorsport UK pass to do stages or sell it and get something else. Time will tell but for now it's been cleaned and put to one side whilst I get back to family life and do some more work on the Mini.

Little update on this... I was made an offer on it that I couldn't really turn down. I've been struggling for time to get it all sorted due to wanting to focus on the mini so it's now gone to a new home.
Relatively short and sweet but there we go.
