If you gonna use it in a rwd you need a sierra 1.8 cvh sump(that is steel and easy to baffle).
If you don't want to do that your self you can buy a sump all finished from retromotorsport as i did.
There is a thread about baffling a cvh sump on here see http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=85696

    Thanks for the reply !

Sump is a std alloy Zetec silvertop fitted to a fwd Mk1 Fiesta Supersport.

There seems to be plenty info on fitting / modifying Zetecs for rwd but not a lot on fwd !!!

Theres nothong 'confusing' about it, its just that there isn't a lot of info for doing any work on a fwd Zetec like baffling the sump etc.

As it is to be used for competition a baffled sump is a must !

    Any ideas / advice ?

    Cheers !

So mate, I was doing a play on words!!!

I have seen some dry sump kits advertised quite cheaply on www.findit.co.uk, that may be your best option.

What is the zetecinside guy using as he does hillclimbs and stuff so will have come across the same problems as you. The standard zetec sump is as least designed for FWD so you are halfway there already unlike us RWD lot

Theres more surge on a fwd engine / sump hence the need for baffles !

As far as I can tell, the zetecinside fiesta is using a standard Escort zetec sump? What tyres you going be running that will require extra baffling? Suppose you could always try dry sumping it.

The 2.0 pickup pipe would hit the inside of the 1.8 sump, and therefore you wouldn't be able to fit the 1.8 sump without first changing the oil pickup pipe. From experience at race tracks, the Zetec does not suffer from oil surge problems, like the old Crossflow did. So theres no point in fitting baffle plates etc in the sump, unless you're running a single seater, which experiences much higher G-forces than a saloon car, in which case a dry sump is probably the best solution.

Using mega grippy Avon ACB10's so surge could be a problem !!!

Dry sumping it is a bit extreme & expensive as the engine is basically standard but stillmaybe an option if theres a cheap enough kit on the go, any ideas ?

I think I have a baffle plate(s) sussed out now but it'll take a bit of time to sort.

    Thanks for the info !

no probs. The zetecinside fiesta is a hillclimb car so also using slicks. I would see how you go with the standard sump as another zetec is only couple hundred quid if you have problems

The first corner on the first event we have planned is a tight hairpin which will probably cause the most surge, I managed to knacker a good x-flow at the same corner more than 10 years ago !

im sure you could rig a steel baffle around the pickup pipe fairly easily. base it on the thread link above, try to limit oil moving along the lenghth of crank ( sorry if im sounding obvious)
