Well I've finally managed to get some spare time to start repairing the Flying Bogey. Its not going to be easy but hopefully with the help of Gary it will fly again. Progress so far...

It took a fair old bash didn't it!
And I see the neighbours have had enough and buggered off.
All those colours kept giving them migraines?
Good to see it's getting sorted.![]()
I am sure Gary can fix (Spaceframe) it![]()
poor bogey! Keep us updated Rich![]()

well done m8 glad to see its moving along now, wont be long before its avin it again m8![]()
What you need is a length of chain and a sturdy fence post / lamp post.
Shouldnt be too bad to fix, has the pillar moved?
My rally car was like that when i got it. A quick use of the above and some new panels and it was ready to fall into the ditch of the second corner of the next event.
jono
Keep up the good work![]()
ps. where is that strut brace from?
Jake
I'm just getting the car ready for Gary to straighten it and a few other choice bits
Strut brace was £74.99 from Speedshack in West Drayton![]()

Nice one Rich, thing is you will never match the colour just painting the wing, so does that mean a full respray or is it just a blow in to get it straight and drivable, cos beware the snowball effect.
Full respray = glass out = trim out = couple of little plates needed, nothing too serious = FULL RESTO = Empty pockets= car off road for years and years, or maybe that's just me and my escort that started out as needing 2 outer wings??.
It's like an illness.
p.s. if it turns out you need a full inner, my friend has a spare gen ford one (!) not 100% sure that it's a left but if there is a need then just ask and I will do some research.

will you please stop giving him ideas!![]()

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the gp2 arches. Don't worry Mark they are still far from common and much nicer looking than the forest/tarmac arches.
I've had the car stripped down before so there shouldn't be any hidden suprises but I am going for a respray but I'm keeping the base colour the same.

that needs pulling oot a bit
MY MK1 ESCORT (Now turbo'd)
Thats why i got a workshop with a sloping yard and big steel gate posts... 50M's of chain, attach offending crumpled wing, let car roll ... snatch!!
repeat as needed![]()
Nice to see you making a start on it Rich & not just leaving it there now you got the Banana![]()
Hope it all goes well mate, I'm sure we will be kept updated![]()

Get more cool stuff bought!!!
good to see things happening on it again m8![]()
I know that your only allowed to brown nose on here or posts get deleted but i'm really disapointed with richard for using a supercharger. I was hoping to actually see a fast zetec for once and had high hopes for richards . Oh well another day in the future he may well bring the fight to the pintos without cheating !!!!

P.S. delete when your ready !!!!!

Gaz, your going to have to keep up with evolution... first there was the steam engine, then the Pintosaurus, then the BDA, then the Turbo 16v YB, ... move on a few year , and you have the Zetec.. a few more and you have the Supercharged Zetec.
I really feel that saying Richard is cheating is a load of B*****x ...its his damm car. Gaz arch and stripe your car and fit Duel fuel engine and take the fight to the Zetecs.
And Gaz... over 2000 posts by you and the only posts that are deleted are ones that repeat themselvess

Calm down love , i was only joking
, richard can cheat if he likes !!!!!!!

Richard , i've got a brand new in the box eaton M90 supercharger if you want it for £550 . These are nice and big for use on your zetec engine . How much boost are you going to run then ?
You are only saying I'm cheating cos I'm going to be able to build my entire car for the cost of your engine and it will still be as fastOh and the M90 is way too big, using a minicooper supercharger which with the right pulley will give about 8psi. Boost is not what you want with this type of supercharger anyway as that is just wasting energy as the boost comes from air building up in the plenum.
I can't afford a mental N/A engine like you Gaz (I would love one) and when you can get the same power and way more torque by bolting an £80 box on the side, how can you resist? And cos I have loads of low down torque I can use a £40 MT75 instead of a £1000 straight cut race box.
Can't believe how fast Gary is working, looks like he will be done soon unless I keep adding things to the "to do" list![]()

mini supercharger is a bit small for a 2 litre the m90 would be better , it would give a bigger top end power figuire . Are you changing the c.r. on this £80 engine conversion then ?
can your ecu retard the timing on boost then ? i thought you needed another ecu for forced induction or perhaps yours can be upgraded ? Are you using intercoolers or water injection or both with a standard C.R. ? Are you using the standard atmo cams then ? Can you run boosted air through your bike throttle bodies then ? This could cost more than you think richard , not £80...........

Richards ECU will work fine with Boost, in fact the very same ECU is used on the NTS twin turboed V8 Mk2 which I had the pleasure of mapping a few weeks ago, Its not the greatest ECU IMO but sifficient![]()

Do you reckon this £80zetec supercharger conversion will last long on the 120,000 mile standard engine then ? You should get the engine rebuilt first with a few mods as stressing an old motor will end in a holed block !!!!
. No point in big arches + wheels if the engine don't work !!!!

Exactly how much stress does increasing the volumetric efficiency of an engine induce then "Oh font of all knowledge"![]()
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool..........
Than to speak up and remove all doubt![]()
You need to go away and do your research Gaz, as you are so far wide of the mark its not even funny this time...![]()

Don't worry I have another low mileage one waiting, going to use the 120k one for development work and testing bits out on. And yes I'm running an Emerald ECU which can handle pretty much anything you want on a 4 cylinder engine (8 injectors, fully sequential injection, boost control, antilag on turbo, nitrous injection, vvc...)
All I need is some pipe adaptors off of Dom, some brackets, bit of sheet ally for plenum and a cheap intercooler, not exactly gonna cost the earth.

And don't turn this into another epic but ultimately useless thread, you have your own resto thread for thatI'll let the car do the talking once its done
