Having trouble getting the picture to upload but I think I've sorted it out now, hope you can all see it !!
Thanks for the info Mark. What vehicle is the water rail from, or is this something you fabricated?
I've a Raceline water rail and fitting kit for sale if anyone is interested, new & unused.
Price??????
they look an easier job than a zetec water rail ?
£225 all in with the postage.
I've had a mod done to it by a machining company for the heater hose to return to the back of the head, and for an additional temp sensor. These can be removed and blanked with proper plugs which I can supply if need be.
Not really.
If you come the exhaust side of the engine you have to come up over the exhaust while still making sure you can take the exhaust manifold off without having to remove the water rail.
If you came round the induction side you would have to come under the throttle bodies / carbs
Also, if you want one in something like an Escort then you need to keep it all nice and neat so you dont have to chop the bulkhead.
In a Kit car it doesnt matter a jot... but where space is tight.. neatness is the key.
Will soon be offering a much more cost effective solution, that maintains all the standard outlets but in a more RWD Friendly package
Watch this space for RWD Duratec Alloy Sumps as well

Now that the 2.3 Duratec is in a rear wheel drive Transit, you can buy a Ford water rail for about £100.
Is the new transit RWD? I had heard it was FWD?
Does anyone on here have a new Duratec RWD Tranny? If so, pics of the engine bay would be good.
You can get the new transit in FWD & RWD with the 2.3 Duratec.
Ah OK that makes sense. (I wonder why Ford did that then? must cost more to develop both orientations...)
van sits lower when FWD
Info
Water rail part numbers, it is a 2 piece part.
Part number 6C1G-8594-AC, FINS 1374912
and
Part number 6C1G-8K556-AC, FINS 1374190
And here is a schematic of what it looks like.
Ah cheers. So it takes it over the exhaust side then like the raceline etc. versions.
(I'm considering swapping my Zetec for a Duratec in the rally car)
I've just installed a Duratec into my Mk2 Escort rally car. I used the aluminium rear pipe, then chopped up the steel pipe as required.
I have a new rear pipe for sale if anyone is interested. £75
I converted the mondeo one for around a tenner
And it comes out inlet side.
Reedy - looks good. Are you running a header tank?
mk1matt - I've been following your thread. Coming along a treat isn't it...
No I'm not using a header tank. The top of the radiator is the highest part of the system so I'm hoping to get away without one. Has't been used in anger as yet though ?
Hi Reedy, yeah I'll be interested to see how you get on. I've heard stories of people having problems with erratic temperatures when running water rails and no header tanks.
i can get these for a round £55 if anyone wants one
more pics please reedy
Hi Davejupp - am I correct in thinking that the bottom pic is upside down? i.e. meaning that the water pipe will run along the exhaust side?
yes thats rite
Bought the engine second hand from a Grass track racer. A big mistake ! Am in the process of rebuilding it properly at the moment. Will be in the look out for a block & head if anyone knows for one.
Who made the exhaust manifold or where did it come from ? Looks impressive...
It was made by a chap called Harvey from West Wales. He used to work for some of the formula one teams. I just gave hime the specification drawings and the car for the week, and left him to it. He doesn't even have a full tube bender, and it was only about £300 !
That's him. A really helpful chap, with a very good reputation.
