Thinking well outside the escort box. Presume front end running gear is going to be equally unorthadox?

Re: SP Paint and Preps racecar

Both front ends are sort of like the old Super Tourers, original chassis legs, allthough 'jack' differs here i belive, original suspension picks up give or take a few mm, still monocoque just revised inner wings/tubs .
Its an old formula, just not seen on escorts that much these days. Allthough with good shells disapearing into hedges and tress at an alarming rate this is a cheaper way of re-building the fronts ends when they are rotten. Basicly this is a group 5 car, original suspension type, original block, alternative head, and forced or increased capacity.
With a N/A BDA/ or homologated alternative it could run to the old gp4 regs i belive.

Astounding fabrication going on here Gary - form and function

Must be having a brain fade day though ... what's an "EPS mount" hold when it's at home?

Out for a drive on a sunny spring day reminds me why I got this car

Re: SP Paint and Preps racecar

As this car is using 16 and 17" wheels with a low ride height, we always knew that the arches Shaun wanted to use where going to need modifiying.
The plan was for Shaun to cut the GRP Gp2 Zakspeed arches up and re glass them to fit, then smooth over, and then get moulds made so we have spares (its a racecar, they tend to take a bashing)
Now Shaun has repeatably said he hates GRP, saying things like he wanted a spacesuit before touching the stuff .. and generally whinging away about modding them.
So I got to thinking ... Shauns that busy painting various cars that he is stuck for time, if he was to do the mods on the arches, he wouldn't be painting (earning) so i figured that I may as well make the mock ups that he can then do what he does best, prep and paint. I didnt mention this to Shaun, I just did it. And sent the pics over in a PM ... now that was the first mistake, as Shaun first look at a computer was a couple of weeks ago. Well two days later he rung me up and i talked him through on how to get to his PMs ..

    "have you found the message?"
    "yes its loading"
    "see the arch?"
    "...................."
    "Shaun, have the pictures worked"
    "......................."
    "Shaun you there"
    ".........................."
    "Shaun?"
    "......................."
    "Shaun"
"................... sorry .. I was having a private moment with a body part"

    I think he likes them

So the arches ... they are based on the Gp2 arches, just a little bigger, slightly wider and in steel. Shaun will prep these rears and get the moulds done, then clean off the fixing edge and I'll re-profile it for the fronts and then we'll have the moulds done for the fronts.

So what do you lot think?

    the rear

    The front,

Great work again Gary!!!! Those arches look wicked

On one hand I think you should slow down, so that I can take Matt's advice and get my Shaun busy on my paintwork...........and on the other hand I want you to hurry up so that I can get you busy on some shall mods and a prop centre support (amongst other things!).

    Cheers,
