    MKII Escort - 4WD Exhaust Manifold ?

    Hi Gents,

I'm sure this has been answered before but can I fit a Cosworth Engine to a MKII Escort with a 4WD Exhaust Manifold.

Now I know I can fit the Engine with a 2WD Exhuast Manifold because I've done this in the past on a dummy build about 30 months ago..........but want to see if anyone out there has managed to do so.

I'll be running a t34 if that helps with the mental picture.

    Many thanks

the 4wd manifold goes in much easier than the 2wd, to use the 2wd manifold you have to tip the engine over a bit,

its worth doing though, powerwise the 2wd is much better

Re: MKII Escort - 4WD Exhaust Manifold ?

    Graham,

Many thanks for jumping on this one for me .............Power isn't a massive issue for me as I know the set-up I have will push out around the 360 - 400bhp (ish) mark on a 4WD Manifold (Kiss of Death ).

I don't think I could handle much more grunt than that anyway - (I'm not the best driver in the World !!!!!!)

It was more of an issue of dropping the Engine in...............So, looks like all should be well..............apart from when the sump clashes with the WCXM, which is a given

    Cheers again very much appreciated.

The 2wd manifold will give better power all through the rev range and therefore better fuel econimy too.....

The sump will fit, mount the engine 3/4- 1" back (so the plenum almost fouls the bulkhead then tring the flange on the back of the xmember and reweld...

Re: MKII Escort - 4WD Exhaust Manifold ?

    Clint / Joe,

Thanks for the advise............I'll get my mitts on a 2WD unit ASAP............I've put it together with a 4WD Manifold at the moment but it's not going anywhere for a good while

Just one other thing - Is it worth investing in a "Exhaust Manifold Spyder" to take some strain off the Manifold anyway. Seen a few being used but didn't know if they work

    Cheers again............
