Cosworth - how much smoke is too much

Hi hoping someone can help, i'm meant to be picking up my cosworth tomorrow, but i noticed earlier when he was driving away, at very high revs the car kicks out a bit of black smoke, its definately black not blue. The car doesn't smoke at all from cold or at idle or when changing gear. Now i've seen a few cosworths going round silverstone and know that its not uncommon for them to do this but just wondered if i should be concerned? i've spent ages looking for the right one and don't want a big repair bill any time soon, the engine has no rattles or knocks at any revs. I've owned loads of fords but this is my first cosworth and I want to make sure its a good one. Thanks.

black smoke is excessive fueling, with high boost turbos its common to run them rich to protect and cool the engine, as long as its only a momentary bit of smoke when its booted hard its not an issue

as graham says really, ive never seen a cosworth on boost that doesnt kick out a bit of black smoke. All mine have done it, and they were live mapped on the road. Obviously if it was being driven gently away, then yeah, it may have a problem.

mine was doing this around combe last year, just after it had been live mapped:

only ever does it on hard throttle for a millionth of a second

Thanks, thought I was worrying about nothing but wanted to make sure, hoping to pick it up after work, i'm like a kid on christmas eve! Wanted a cosworth since I was 14 (i'm now 27!) Hoping to be on the ts stand at santa pod, will be good to get other peoples opinions on it.
