    Swirl pot

I'm currently putting a cossie lump in a mk2 escort, it runs a 044 fuel pump with grey injectors, I have an across the boot tank and want to also run a seperate swirl pot, I've read various threads saying that a red top fuel pump is enough to fill the pot, but would the 044 not drain the pot quicker than the red top can fill it? Can anyone help? Thanks

    Re: Swirl pot

because the red top is only filling a swirl pot not having to fight the resistance of long fuel lines float valves and pressure regs it will pump far more fuel than used in a carb installation.

in theory a 044 could use fuel faster than the red top can fill the pot, but in practice as long as the return from the engine goes back to the swirl pot that will never happen unless you have 500bhp (which you wont have) and are able to hold the engine flat out at that power for quite some time.

    Re: Swirl pot

I am going to be using a red top pump to fill my swirl pot too, using a walbro pump for the mopment and should be fine and as Graham said run the return from the engine into the swirl pot as that will help keep it filled up if the red top is lagging behind a little.

What size swirl pot are you using?

1.5 ltr, got the bits today from rally design, swirl, red top, mounting bracket, read a fair few more post and they all seem to say the same, ( not that I disbelieve graham) , got to sort out fuel lines next, was going to run solid copper style ones along centre of car but not 100% sure, change my mind more than a woman!

I am running the lines inside the car and using AN -6 PTFE fuel line, will need to proper fittings for this on the tank and swirl pot but well worth it.

    Re: Swirl pot

Seen some lpg fuel lines on eBay, looks like its black plastic/ powder coated over what looks like copper? 8 mm thick, that's about the same size that was on my sapphire, that never had any fuel starve problems, was going to p clip it along the gear box/ prop tunnel? Haven't thought about ends yet! You running an oil cooler on yours? Stuck mine in the wheel arch, trying to sort out pipe work for that, think I finally sorted it today, can believe how unhelpful people can be!
