    Harrier Resto

    Harrier Resto

    Hi all,

It's been a long time coming......but finaly my Harrier is now on the road, fully legal and currently having it's new engine run in.

Our very own "2quick4u", Mark, is responsible for body resto (new panels/welding/spray job) and building of new "mildly" tuned engine.
Mark, as I know a lot of you know, does a fantastic job on whatever he does and treats all the car's he works on like his own.....in fact I am sure Mark wouldn't mind me saying that he was a little "gutted" to see the harrier leave his workshop after the spray job, as it had come out so well.

I got all the parts from the car whilst Mark was working on the body and then cleaned and painted all parts in preperation for fitting. Mark delivered the shell for me to then work on what was effectively a big "Lego" kit, which actually didn't take to long.

I have added all the usual "upgrades" (Ashley Exhaust, Vented Discs etc...) and most recently also fitted a completley retrimmed interior, finishes the car off nicely.

I won't put up all the pics, as Mark has a page on his site to detail the resto - http://www.rwd-escort.co.uk/andy_derrick.htm - not all the pics are there yet as I haven't sent Mark all the pic's (get them to you soon Mark)

How I first saw the car.....

    Being sprayed....

    And now all finished

Finnaly I would like to also thank "Mr Hoarder", Rob, who has also helped with various parts of the rebuild (Stripes, brakes amongst other things) and supplying a lot of the parts that have helped finish the car off nicely. Cheers Rob!!

I initially wanted a Mk2 to realise a dream I had as a youngster to build one to the spec I always wanted (Minilites, stripped out, big engined, racer), but as this car's resto was in progress I realised it was going to be to nice to ruin what must be one of the very few remaining Harriers.

I still want to build my ideal Mk2, so watch this space..........

See you all soon when the nice weather returns............

    Andy.

    Love it mate. Looks great.

I have always wanted a Harrier but those that are left never seem to come up for sale. Or when they do I've got no cash!

    Cheers

It looks the Biz Andy, I really like harriers even though there basically 16 sports with wheels interior and stripes, the end car looks so much better than the sum of its parts, Also the harrier stripes are imho the best design ford have come up with.

    Nice One

    Cheers Glyn

Thanks for all the great comments guys

Bricktop - If it hadn't have been an orgiginal fit sunroof from new I also would have binned it, it kind of adds to the "old skool" feel of it!

    Re: Harrier Resto

The Centre console used in the Harrier / Sport is the same as a Ghia one. An RS type console won't fit as the gear lever is is a differerent position in x-flow engined cars.

I can vouch for the originality / authenticity of the console - as my Harrier had one in it too (it's got an RS one in it now as the standard one won't fit with a Pinto and 5 speed )

The interior of Andys' car is 99% right - the only thing that is not original is that it has a glove box instead of a parcel shelf. (this is not a criticism - I sold him the Glove box )

Thanks Rob - I knew you would know, there's your answer Fasterfords

"The interior of Andys' car is 99% right - the only thing that is not original is that it has a glove box instead of a parcel shelf." and maybe soon a new steering wheel

OK, I've never seen inside a Harrier before, I assumed it would have an RS one, but now I know.

But I wasn't wrong, it is a Ghia one

A Harrier is a Sport with alloys, spolier and decals (basically)

True - which means it isn't an RS but........it was brought out as a special edition to celebrate the success of the Escorts in rallying at that time

I wonder how many are left???

    good question

i remember my mates one from the early 90's, white it was. reg - NOM155V spaced as NO M155 V

used to be a mint silver one in Shoebury, got sold to someone in Wakering, last time i saw that it had a dented wing and the guy thought he had the only one in existance going by the price he wanted
