Yes the roos pistons are around 24mm CH, the vw pistons are much taller, with a BP285 cam I think 5.7" rods would not make much of a difference, since that cam does not make great top end power, it is a fast road profile, quite torquey, I would stick with a near std bottom end with that cam, fit some arp rod bolts and use around 10.2 to 10.5 to 1 compression, long rods and forged pistons are only really worthwhile when building an engine with over 180bhp, your money is much better spent on the best big valve head you can get that flows really well, twin 45's, good exhaust etc, will see much more gains than spending lots of money on a forged bottom end at those sort of hp levels
