Problem with ST170 Engine in my Mk2 Escort

Headgasket has been changed, the one that came off looked fine. I still have the same problem, compression down on cylinders 1 and 2, and water coming through the exhaust... That sounds bad right?

  hairline crack on the head perhaps, check that the valve seats, ports etc.. are ok and have no cracks.Better yet off to the machine shop for a crack/pressure test
