Hey guys, is there a difference between the OZ RS tie rods and normal 1600 escort ones, the ones that came with the car have a taller tapered shaft under the threaded end and it is of larger diameter too.
cheers Jonny
Thanks for the replies guys, i believe the rack is standard, i bought a pair of RS2k tie rods from burtons to fit with the Gaz Gold coilovers as the tie rods on the car when bought would not fit into the bolt on steering arms which were all purchased from burtons RS parts section. My only conclusion is that the tie rods may be from a different old ford, perhaps a TE Cortina? and the cast steering arms have been bored out ....are TE cortina ones wider than OZ RS tie rods?
Another question, are you guys in Oz allowed to have welded stub axles on your struts and are Gaz Gold coilovers used and compliant for road use? if so are you able to show anything that says they are approved for use? We cannot run anything with welding to the stub axles, so strengthening plates are out for the rally boys
Thanks Graham, what is different about them, length, width, height?
cheers

Mk2 RS TRE's also have M14 thread and 'unf' tapers: from 12.5 to 11.5 mm .
Mk1's have UNF thread and 'unf' tapers.

Other than that the 2 are the same.
Awesome, thank you I will have to check the measurements against the ones fitted and the UK RS ones I bought at some point in the near future and report back!
