Yeah see what you mean,Alphas are notorious for going wrong.Good to see that you look after it and maintain it well, nothing worse than a neglected cossie.Any more plans for it??

      Re: Sapphy\'s Old Snort

Big ones. I had always wanted to keep it standard but little by little that has slipped.

The engine has done 80,000 miles, and is getting a little bit coarse for my likeing.

Firstly, I am getting the gearbox redone (again) as I am not happy with the change into 5th, and then it is off to the body shop to have both rear arches cleaned up, bumpers, sills refitted (and also to check for any nasties behind them) and get the engine bay done. I'm also getting a 4x4 vented bonnet fitted as the under bonnet temperature in the summer concerns me, and I don't want my head warping! (Ford obviously fitted the vents to later models for a reason! - I know though that the 4x4 turbo sits higher up than the 2wd).

It is then probably going to go to SCS (Harvey Gibbs) or Rob at SCC (St.Albans) to have the engine tidied up, perhaps even re-built, I will probably plump for green injectors and a Mr Bayjoo chip. I haven't decided who will do it yet, it depends on whether the gearbox problems get resolved to my satisfaction.

Do you think this is a good schedule for the year!!

You're right about keeping cossies nice by the way, I've seen some really tatty ones that are almost embarrassing!

      Cheers
      Hugh

        Re: Sapphy\'s Old Snort

It's a shame to keep a cossie standard, it's like having a gun with no bullets! I would suggest getting all the engine work done before the bodywork, nothing worse than scratching your nice new paintwork with an engine

Sounds like your gonna be busy m8,so will the saff be the 2nd car when you get the st170??think Wes`s way of thinking is right ha ha,but would you say you sacrifice reliability by modifiying??

A 330 BHP cossie can be just as reliable as a standard one IMO, depends how you drive the car, it's when you go over 330 BHP that things start breaking

Suppose,as long as you remember to uprate things like the head gasket etc no reason it shouldnt be as reliable.Take it your speaking from experience Wes??waterpump, gearboxes ha ha(using your ff feature as reference)so have you rejoined the aa?

To be honest it was only pretty nice in those pics, now it's had all the work done to it, it is very nice.

Just 'been there, done that' unfortunately.
