    Wow that seemed to work.

The top 2 are outside my house, 3rd one is on Otterburn ranges 2 years ago, next one is on the Jim Clark rally the same year, and the bottom shot is the latest evolution of the engine, just after we fitted it.

I've got millions more photos, let me know if you want to see some more, i picked these at random,.. and now i know how to re-size them!

    cheers
    Tom

            Re: mk2 rallycar

Yikes gary wants to see pictures of my arse end

Power figures are nothing to get all moist about i'm afraid, depending on who's rollers you believe its either got 170 or 190 at the wheels... But boat loads of torque, from about 2000rpm! (thanks to Mr Greenald) So it is just amazingly flexible, which is a major plus point with a rally car. The powercurve is still going up when it hits the rev-limiter though, so some steel rods are on the cards so we can use 8500 and hopefully quite a bit more power.

Its way too quick for us though! Neither of us can drive it to its full potential, so no point spending any more on the motor just yet. A dog-box is next on the shopping list, before more power.

Seriously gary, theres nothing exciting about the arse end in that, its a normal atlas to look at, but its got a 5.1, proper LSD, 2-piece shafts and cossie callipers - all pretty conventional stuff. I'm busy with a fully floater for it now, will get some shots of that when its ready if you like.

This picture was taken when we first built the car - note the 15" wheels - we thought they were a good idea at the time, but they came off pretty quick when we realised it handled like a broken sofa!

More on the way later tonight...

            cheers

Its more the linking i want to see, to encourage more and more peeps to cut their cars up and make them better, Steve will be pleased to hear your happy with the torque, I do like they way he maps for the driver not the numbers.
Are you going to autosport in january, perhaps we can meet up on the DTA stand, Steves normally on there for the 2 trade days. I think us lot are going up thursday and staying the night in a mates Hotel, so we will be on the piss up there.

Aye Autosport sounds a good idea - was just talking about that the other day, i havent been for a fews years cos i got a little bored with it, but its about time i had a trip down i reckon...

Sorry i couldn't say much when you rang before Gary - i was in the machine shop turning the bearing carriers for Retro-Al's axle - not a good time to talk lol

This is the only picture i've got right now under the back end, part way through the build.

                cheers

                    Re: mk2 rallycar

gathered you were in the middle of something, thats why I never handed the phone to Steve, you would have been there for hours, your car sounded sweet on the rollers

Autosport can be a bit but in recent years there seems to be a bit of an old school thing going on, even in the engineering hall there was lots of BDA's and G's, new 'english' cases and faces from old.

Just a pity year after year the have to tone down the eye candy. Not one damper between some thighs last year

I'll sort out for definate what day we are going, I normally have a big swell of staff at that time of year
One show you must do is the Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneliegh. knocks Autosport for dead, I will be going on the trade and MSA Licence holders day to that too.
How many 'staff' will you be taking to Autosport?

Oh and thats better, thats how every Escort should look underneath.

                          Very tidy

                          Is it a tax exempt Mk2 then as it's a G reg

                          Often thought of re-logbooking mine!

                            Re: mk2 rallycar

Stoneleigh was excellent last year, i was there with a mates mk1 mex rally car - he was doing that demo/micky mouse rally round the parade ground. The show was great, actually i was busy slagging it off then somebody pointed me in the direction of the "engineering hall" - so i spent the rest of the day drooling over the BDG on Burton's stand. Possibly better in terms of "realistic" and useful parts than autosport...

I dont have a definite day for autosport yet, but will probably go for the trade day - me plus 2 staff.

Lol about the G reg - erm, well officer, erm, what do you mean they didnt make these in 1968? It just says Ford Escort on the logbook. Must have been a re-shell at some stage, honest...

                            cheers
