Isle of Man plates, as the IOM is it's own country (part of the British Isles like the falklands, but not part of the UK or EU), it has it's own car regs (like jersey). Being the Isle of Man also they make up their own rules! So number plates have no correlation to date of vehicle. Plate number follow in various styles :
1234 MAN (where the number can be between 1 and 9999)
        MAN 1234 (likewise for number)
AMN 123 (where the leading charachter "A" can be between A-Z)
        123 AMN
and newer types such as FMN 123 W (still no date corrilation)

So my plate of X29 MAN is totally alright - EXCEPT that the only bend in the rules is that I have black and silver colour plates which are only allowed (supposedly) on vehicles registered before Jan 1990, where as mine was reg'd in Aug 1990 (but the cops won't know that!!!)

So there we go - X29 MAN in Black and Silver on my 1990 XR4x4 2.9 !!! Cool! Although had to get a new set made up as when I bought the car the kid I got it from had plates reading X2.9 MAN and he wondered why he was always getting stopped!!! Take out the dot dickhead!!!

Good news - got the new rear shocks on yesterday - blinding! I can now cane it along and not hit the deck at the same time! Had a butchers at the exhaust whilst it was up on ramps (and OH! what a F. palava that was!) The d/s rear box was F-ed (about 5 massive spilts in it) and the n/s rear box was crumpled to buggery! Luckily new exhuast system goes on tomorrow - yee-bloody-ha-ha!
Pics to follow over the weekend! She now looks like a pro-stock High in the arse and low in the front - nice (in a sad 80's sort of way!!!) But I like it!... Ade.
