    My Mk2 Escort RS2000 - Base model.

August 1979 - built in Germany.
2 previous owners (the first bloke had it for 19 years).
76k with full history, DVLA report, old MOT's etc.
    No rust/rot.
    100% original spec.
Largely original paint, with a little symapthetic repainting only where necessary.
I've overhauled/replaced the engine and bay, front suspension and steering, rear axle 1/2 shafts, all brakes including brand new original ATE master cylinder (after Bruntingthorpe!) new heater motor.
Some trim replaced - window seals, drivers seat.
The car was exported from Wales in August 2000, and re registered on Irish plates, costing government duty of IRĀ£750!!!
It runs well on 95u/l using a Broquet catalyst, and without an u/l conversion, or ignition retardation.
Poverty spec. RS steel wheels, never had a radio, no clock, nor centre console.
    Stealthy signal orange

Thanks for the positive feedback lads
Clint - advice taken - on Irish roads the standard power is fine -a pal has a Saab 9-5 and was amazed and embarrased at a traffic light recently as he was going for gold - He lost.
My wife, a good driver, has a nice Alfa 156 1.8, but can't keep up with the RS2000 on the twisty bits
Over say 80 mph the aerodynamics are poor, but the rwd grip is superb from a standing start, and it's no problem to get well and truly sideways
50 - say 75 mph in top is quite rapid.
The standard suspension copes with our bumpy roads fine
I drove it from Limerick (west coast) to the ferry out of Dublin to Liverpool, and from there to the memorable Old Skool Trackday/AVO owners club w/e last June.
All I can say is that it got me there and back, and put a big on my face!!!

Re: My Mk2 Escort RS2000 - Base model.

Someone was looking for details of the car so i gave them a link to here.

Also about time I updated it a little.

They car seems to have wintered well again, and apart from a good service, it needs very little at this point.

I have got a set of valve stem oil seals to fit and bought a carb overhaul kit to do, but that's about it. It flew through the Irish N.C.T. (MOT) and got a 2 year ticket last summer.

I looked at a 5 speed conversion but took good advice and won't bother.

I got the RS steels cleaned and painted, and also have a set of very nice 4 spokes fitted.

10 good wheels and tyres for maybe 1500 miles this year - am I mad?

as to the number of wheels and tyres you were mad before you bought them

Saw an absolutely gorgeous black RS2000 earlier on, it looked like it was mint and the noise off it was sweet
