That is one serious car Looking at all those parts thats under the skin makes me think how poo a std rd car is.
Btw how many oil coolers does it have in total lol
four coolers in total under car, three are massive with scoopes ect,
rs500 touring cars range from 15k to 65k acording to spec and rarety,
a ruff one needing work and no known race history may cost you 15k where as a genuine eggenburger car could cost 65k
someone i know built a rs500 touring car with all the right bits and sold it to the first person who saw it on a track day for 25k, and that was a made up car with no race history and no development behind it,
the people who know theses cars recon it would cost 65k to build one today (from second hand parts!)
so there still are good value if you can find a good original one,
my labbats car cost in the about 150k to build in 1988 and there budget was aabout 250k a season and they run this original car for two seasons,
so as you can appreiate this car has had a lot of money and development put into it,
looking round the car i believe i got a bargain,
if you bought a shell and then modded it, i could not afford it, and then i dout without vast exsperiance it still would not be this good,
Hi Martin, in that first pic on the right of the stack rev counter theres a bracket/holder. Was that for the mobile phone arrangment that was used to communicate with the pit crew back then ??
had my first go at the 1/4 mile the other day, and its a lot harder than it looks to get tracktion, with big power two wheel drive,
had four runs and they there crappp!!!
my best run was 13.8 at 109 mph
i bogged down or two much wheel spin,
did not bother letting the trye pressure down or even taking out the 50 kiols of crap in the boot, as it was only a bit of fun, and i was not taking bothered as it was my first try,
with some practice and a good driver it should be in the low 12 sec,
still toying with the idea of tracktion control system,
So whats it like Wes ??
I remember seeing it on a Escort RS2000 at the 0-60 at Trax in 2000 i think, and it was well rapid spitting flames until it launched ( excuse the pun ) and put up a well impressive time
Does it produce any positive boost when used ??
And just to be nosey what revs have you set yours at
And just to be nosey what revs have you set yours at
Thats a secret
The race logic system does have launch control but it is mainly used for traction control on 2wd's, i've heard some people say it's good, some people say it's bad.
I have an Armtech revlimiter with launch control and full throttle gearshift, i only use the launch control feature, and as i have a 4x4 it tends to stay in a straight line anyway, sometimes
