Well it was new 21 years ago

Swapped my BMW for it with one of my mates, as I just couldn't be arsed with the beemer anymore.

So this is going to be my little Trackday Project. I am thinking about fitting the I4 RS2000 Engine into it
, Stripping will commence tomorrow morning, then Welding then much head scratching about fitting engine

Lovely, like it mate Why not just tune up the x-flow thats in it??

Looks like a nice project Adam.

A tuned up & overbored x-flow will give about 130Bhp I think if you are lucky...

Slapping a modern 16v lump in (which should be relativly easy) could potentially nearly double that figure I guess.

You know it makes sense !

I was just thinking have it as a standard looking mk1 xr but tuned to the nuts

Gonna be a pure track day car mate.

The X flow engine just doesnt "Do it" for me at all.

Deffo needs some modern thinking added to it to make it special

VERY nice. I adore Mk1 XR2's. Nearly bought a couple myself...but just never found a good one for sensible money.

Looks in quite good condition...the mk1 Fiesta is unfortunately becoming a rare sight nowadays.

Didn't think the XR2 came on X plate...thought it was quite late in the range, coming on Y's and early A's. Oh well.

Also, isn't there another spoiler that follows the surround of the window...like on the mk2?

As for engine, I'd go for 2.0 Zetec...then turbo it!!

All in all a VERY productive day, found out it has been Waxoyled to death, it is a VERY solid car which has made me very happy

Nice one Adam,

I wouldnt bother with the I4 RS2000 engine they are very expensive to tune, depends on what ya want though as they are 150bhp as standard.

why not go the whole hog and fit a w12 engine from the new volkswagen phaeton, would be a squeeze but im sure you'd manage it


rs turbo it mate, stage 1 should be power enough, the xr will weigh about as much as a rizla paper just now

I agree that a turbo should be involved...but on a 2.0 Zetec.

No turbo is going anywhere near it, I have enough trouble with my RST as it is ans I have already built a MK2 XR2 Turbo a couple of years ago.

And as this is gonna be a purely track car, I want it N/A. I am having trouble sourcing the RS2000 engine so looks like I will be going for a 2.0 16v on throttle bodies (I hope), with either DTA or Emerald management
