Ahh well I can tell you then mine was 157 but i think it had a little more in it, you just never have enough road, but that's the only time i have ever been that high. What was the Spec Sharon? Mine was a 290bhp, Mark jobby too.

I've had my MKII RS2K off the 140mph clock - running 195/45x15 tyres. With small wheels/ tyres (175/50 x 13) I have seen it way past the 140 mark - but the small tyres would have been throwing the sppedo out badly.

Clint is this true, don't remeber you weighing that much in the HT days? It's all that good cooking from Sharon no doubt!

Per, I used to go off the clock on my Mk1 all the time (140), I had a 5sp straight cut, 4.4LSD and 225-50-15 at 8,500 rpm, was apperently good for around 138 until the nice 'brick' like areo dynamics came into play!

That RS Turbo record of 157mph is soon to be beaten by quite a few people. I personally have been a passenger in an RS turbo doing 7000rpm in 5th gear, on an uphill, which when calculated, came to 161mph, and then verified on a Rolling Road to be 158mph. And thats all with 195bhp @ wheels.

Be interesting to see what the 250bhp + @ wheels RS Turbo`s can do

Sketch mate no doubt on power but I think it's all about areo dynamics, which play a big part in excess of 150, I doubt a rolling road can simulate real weather conditions.

But I look forward to someone beeting the 157 (156.7), I think our Clint is a contender!

Oh ad the next big barrier is 200, apperently the ZR1 can get there with 550bhp but it takes another 250bhp on top to get to 225mph, all on 5th gear last Monday!

Just a quick reply to the aero-dynamics thing.... if the car is doing 7000rpm in 5th... doesnt matter whether its doing it with 100mph head winds.... or no wind at all... its still doing 7000rpm in 5th... which is 158mph
