    E30 Track day challenge car

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right place to post, but it will be raced next year.

the story so far, after recently building other peoples cars and getting race cars ready , me and no1 son have been smitten by the bug and thought it might be nice to have a go ourselves.
So next thing we know we are picking up a 2 door E30,it comes with some nice bits and we have bought some more nice bits and still need a few more nice bits, but we aree full of enthusiasm and made a start ripping it apart today, the shell is tidy but the tin worm has started,so this is where we start.Once the shell is right we will move on to the next stage.
The car will have a std 2.5 m20 engine [may put a cam in it],
we will put a stand alone on it as well, cos its one of our many talents, AST coilers on the front and gaz golds on the back.
Exhaust manifold and system we will make , again coz its what we do.
Slipper in the back with std gearbox and shortened prop as we are moving the engine back a fair bit.

So today was all about plasma cutter and angry grinders,a couple of pics of what we have done and are up against are below.

one patch , patched, spare wheel well on the floor, the fire wall has already been done but it aint up to scratch so its gonna be the victim of the plasma cutter and a nasty little patch of rust under the filler cap in the inner rear panel.

    Cheers Keith

we are looking at the track day trophy for next season.Once its built we,ll do a few track days to see what its like.

I like the idea of budget racing,so the 200bhp a ton formula is right up our street.

      cheers Keith

not sure mate , we bought the car like it , so it maybe we have to go back to standard, lets hope not though.

Re: E30 Track day challenge car

Blimey where does time go!!,we have had a busy year in one way or another and unfortunately the poor old car has taken a back seat,we have also changed our plans for next year 2013 and decided not to commit to a race series. We have not given up on the car...far from it.We decided a while back to put the bulkhead and tunnel back to standard and aquired a donor vehicle fro Ron @rayleigh tyres cheers Ron.
So with the tin work all unpicked and ready for transplant the festive break saw me in the workshop, the nasty attempt at moving the bulkhead back was removed and work begun.
Here,s a few picks of the progress, hopefully we can keep the momentum going now.
