205 1.4 Road Rally Car

Been on here a while but havnt really posted anything

Car was built a year or so ago started as a old 1.1 shell with a 1.4 put inside it with cage seats some wiring and guards and rallied like that for my first events




think that was after just the second event being welsh dragon tyres 2011 where the box decided it didnt like reverse 2nd or 3rd gear but still manages a finish 28th overall 5 th in class

some more recent events competed on the morswyn williams and some big changes were made



put some bilsteins on front and rear upgraded to gti brakes with some carbone lorraine pads


more recent updates to come missed a load of events out but thought id give some background info of the car

got some more upgrades to go now

fast road cam
port and polished head
and maybe a single 40

hoping to log book the car ready for the peter lloyd stages in october then

Can you explain what Road Rallying is for the members who dont compete, just a basic thing, what where, how much etc ..

il try my best to explain im crap at it tho ha

its basically theyl give you a time limit to get round each selective not all selectives are competative some they call droppers and give a short time limit to get to the next control all this is set at road speed but they put controls in and a few triangles so you have to go fairly quick

in west wales we have a pile of road rallys from a few different clubs mostly on a cold saturday night round the rural lanes

i try and share the costs with the nav so it dosnt get to expensive the cars dont have to be top notch but some of the tops boys spend some cash on theres but im only in it to have a laugh

i know its not that good of an explantion but its a start ha

yeah its a standard xs and goes alright but more power is needed for the hills

whats the costs like.. circuit racing is around £250 for a 10min quali, 2x 10-15min races and upwards to 6k for a 24hr .. sprinting 150ish for up to 5 runs of less than a mile..

As this could be a way of getting people started on that slippery slope to endless overtime hours and working on a car every spare minute lol

your usual entry is around £90 then youve got your own petrol insurance tyres and club membership for me insurance for the night is £60 as im under 21 about £100 of fuel for the car and club membership is usually £5 - £10 so the nav pays for the entry

but all up to you how much you spend on things but you can have a laugh in a standard car and still be competative with a good nav

cant beat this little cars i used 2 race 1 a few years ago, which engine do you have in this ?? is it the little lay down 1? cant remember what they call them but there wicked lumps

been quiet here really had another project on the go as i bought another 205 gti shall get some pics up soon and in the meantime saving up to get the head done on the other car

had the car back and done 1 rally in it then put it back in the shed

meanwhile i did peter lloyd stages at pembrey as hired a mates 205 gti with a mi16 in it

then on the last stage the wheel came off broke all 4 studs so game over

but it gave me the bug so il be getting on with my 1.4 after christmas is over

so the shopping list stands :

bucket seats
perspex
and belts

ive been slowly collecting the other parts for the past year

and now we have a nother mk2 added to the family so il get another thread started on that soon
