Love it! Grew up with Hotrods, still my favourite, great to see them on longer circuits, will have one one day...

Re: Peugeot 206 silhouette race car

So i thought id do a quick update before the last meeting of the year at brands hatch on Nov 2/3.

Ive managed to do a good few meetings this year with some mixed results. Ive had a couple of dnfs due to gearbox problems, but i think thats behind me now after a comprehensive rebuild by SP Components. Generally though i think ive slowly crept my way up the field as the years gone on as ive tried different things with the suspension set up. I feel a lot more confident with the car now and im mixing it with people that were leaving me behind before so im pretty happy. That said i still need to find at least a second a lap at most circuits to be anywhere close to the front so still plenty of work to do.

The last meeting was at Silverstone which was a really good experience as its such an iconic circuit. The car worked well all day and i had a couple of good battles and managed a 10th place in both races so i was well pleased. If my internet connection wasnt so bad i would upload some onboard footage!

This in the pits at Brands earlier in the year. Theres plenty more intermarque pics at http://www.barcsoutheast.co.uk/galleries.html

Well done on the improvements Neil i know what sort of budget the front runners have so you are doing well to get in the top 10

Cheers Jezz, the top 5 or 6 seem to be in a league of their own so I don't really expect to be on their pace, im just happy to be making small improvements.
More importantly im really enjoying it. After years of oval racing I never thought id be doing anything like this.

Do you think you will be making a return next year?

I hope to race next year and as long as i dont get put in some silly class and work is ok then i will ,the car is very nearly there ,i am hoping to give it a shakedown in the next couple of weeks ,that will give me the winter to sort any niggles ready for next year .Are you racing next year ?

Sounds like a good plan, it'll be good to see you back out.

Im much the same, as long as funds allow i'll be back out. Im still looking for that massive sponsorship deal

Re: Peugeot 206 silhouette race car

So 1st meeting of the year was at Brands Hatch at the weekend which brought mixed success. i have tried to make some improvements over the winter to get myself a bit more on the pace, but with no time for testing i wasnt sure if it was going to be better or worse.

Unfortunately qualifying and 1st race were spoilt by a misfire that proved hard to trace. Turned out to be the bolt that stops the choke rotating on no 1 carb had fallen out, allowing it to spin, meaning the fuel hole didnt line up.

With this fixed i went out for race 2 and although i was starting at the back i was determined to make it count. I managed a 7th which is easily my best result so far so was pretty pleased.

                    No action shots im afraid.

Just tidied the paintwork a bit over the winter and some new stickers for this year.

Also trying a new wing which seemed to make the car a lot more stable.

Didn't get the chance this time as I only got one proper race. Ive made it so I can adjust the smaller wings independantly as well so i will try and have a good fiddle next time out.

its probably only paddock hill bend where you have enough speed for a wing to really make any real difference

Do you think? I thought they could work at much slower speeds if set at the right angle?

if you manage to get sufficent spoiler area at enough angle of attack for them to work in the slow corners, you will loose a shed load of speed down the straights
