So after having Citroen AX's, 106's and a Rover BRM road rally car I decided that I need to bite the bullet and get the car of my dreams - a mk2 escort. Would've loved a 2 door but funds wouldn't allow so when this 1.3 Ghia came up reasonably local, I thought I should have a look. Ended up buying the car and bought it back today. Brakes were a bit iffy but I think new discs, pads and fluid and it'll be ok. Clutch had a very high biting point but I'm hoping it just needs some sort of adjustment rather than a new clutch. Other than that its pretty tidy. Needs a bit of welding underneath but nothing too bad. Strut tops are in good condition, as is the boot which is immaculate.
To begin with, I'm going to do some daylight historic events and then in time when funds allow, get it to a better spec to get back into road rallying. One thing that did surprise me was that it had a rear ARB, is this normal as I haven't seen any others with one before? Here are some pics.
