Hello Folks,
so here it goes.....i bought a battered clubman spec rallycar from the UK a good while back
with the intension of restoring it to as good as i can original condition.
For once i wanted a roadcar with manners, some creature comfort even....
So i planned it all metriculously with Gary, as all the mods i wanted period correct done or redone
and tame enough to get them through swiss MOT.
That was the public opinion until January 14 where, because we took my old mini cooper rallying,
a new spare time pleasure was created..... Me and my navigator enjoyed rallying so much we wanted to do it again...
So we, well I i should say, decided to sign us up for the Mallorca Rally 2014 with the RS1600 that was a pretty but bare shell
at the point in time.
So Gary was begged, and begged and finally talked into a 2nd round of mods to be carried out on the already painted concourse shell.
A cage went in, a new gearbox mount along with 1001 little modifications the FIA will hate me for
sparco seats (instead of leather period items), fire extinguisher system, works dash and rally timer (instead of a lovely 6 dial i had meticulously restored)
etc etc etc....
It was hard to build in only a few weeks time but we did it and the car ran GREAT !!
Here is some footage of the rally, pictures to follow:
