Project number two, Sunbeam Lotus Group 2 historic car

Hi all, I have been plodding away, building my own rally car for a few months (gonna update that thread in a bit), I also had a spare shell, which I have now started on, here is the car from when I got her up to now.

DFP227Y, I bought her from a great chap called Richard who is only five mins from where I work. I had already bought a car from him previously, which donated more than a few parts to my other car, but when he called me and said he had something I might be interested in, I couldn't wait to go and have a look.
Upshot is, I bought that one too, and again, life was looking up as I had a yard full of Sunbeams again.
I then did a deal with the fellas at Prop-strip in Nottinham, to dip both shells for me, which they subsequently did, and I have vowed never to build another var with having the process done, it is fantastic.
Anyway, she sat quietly in the garage whilst I plodded on with my other car, but then, I had reached a point with the Vauxhall powered car where lots of cash needs spending, so my attention turned to the Lotus.
I am building the shell full historic spec, and when she is done, I will just mothball her for a while, and see what happens.
    Anyway, here are some pics...................

    When I collected her..........

    The stripdown starts...............

Seam welding and strut tops strengthened..............

    Some floor repairs...........

    Pair of new jacking boxes...............

    Inside all done.........

    Alloy arches fitting...........

    Rear bottom corner repaired.....

    Small sill reapair..........

    Bag o tubes.............

    My favorite bit, cage fitting!.............

More flawless work by you. Well done. I enjoyed looking at the Rover progress, love reading about the XE powered sunbeam and now another build to look forward to. Your spoiling us! Must go to Tesco and stock up on popcorn!

Your talents knows no bounds. Keep up the good work.

Will be following with interest on this one as well. Are you going for a white/blue works replica or going a different route?

Hi everybody, two things (excuses) why I haven't updated this page for ages, A, my laptop has shat itself, and B, I have been awfully busy (which will be all to apparent in a min).

So, it's well overdue, but a good chunky update for y'all.........................

Just about ready for paint, polished all the steel work with Dronco discs, at a fiver a piece, not the cheapest method, but the shell was dipped in april, and it has been bare since, so had a fair bit of surface rust on her.................
