It has a pinto and very simple chassis set up (leafs etc) but he sure knows how to pedal it and is rarely beaten.

yeah roger does pedal it well, when i was sprinting my 2.0 atmo bmw 2002, if we were both at the same event it was usually 50/50 as to roger or myself taking the class win.

these days rogers got an atmo YB in it

No, more slicks, the ones we killed at Haynes ain't down to the canvas yet

The Orange Gould belongs to Roy Dawson and he did indeed get FTD, makes the long trip down from Scotland to Lydden Hill a little less painful

Didn't know that, he kept the bonnet well and truly on all day so we didn't get a look. He was very quick though

dunno if this will make Gaz smile but he recons its not much better than the pinto it replaced! although he did go on to say, its got more torque and isn't a silly spec motor

                Re: Mr Jimbo - MK1 Escort - 2.0 Pinto

Went to Lydden on Saturday for the BARC sprint meeting along with Dave White who was sharing my car and Andy Pipe who was racing there in the afternoon, all was going well untill i managed to do this to it,

Sorry Dave, perhaps we'll have better luck next time pray:

The CWP is OK but the O/S side bearing is damaged,O/S bearing adjuster cup is damaged beyond repair and the pinion bearings are full of shrapnel so needed a full strip down and rebuild

Andy Pipe didn't fair much better either, lost all his oil pressure in practice so that was the end of his day also

So it really wasn't a good day for Turbosport competitors on Saturday, at least the weather was kind to us though. Thanks to everyone who turned up at Lydden Hill to support myself, Dave White and Andy Pipe we will definately try harder next time ( I may be back there on 28th October )

bad luck jim i was looking forward to watching you go round, as i've never seen your car on circuit as i've always been doing somint else at the time,

glad to know the telephone jetting service worked,

must say i think you really need a shorter 1st gear, or much lower diff to get it off the line properly.

if you count andy pipes last vist to lydden and david oats in the DTRC tigra that also broke an english shaft, that 3 busted shafts in 2 meetings, does really make me wonder how the drag racers get away with english axles.

Yeah the Dial-a-Jet service can definately be recommended it seems to be pretty near spot-on

And as for the diff i have a lower ratio in there now thanks to the blow-up

Hopefully going to be down at Lydden again on 28th October and Dave is sharing the car again are you down there that day ?

Must say a massive thanks to Jim for the lend of the car, just a pity it threw a shaft and stopped play. I had great fun driving the car which it has to be said is very well set up and has plenty of grunt from the old pinto
My first run was pretty intimidating as I haven't driven that hard in ages and have never raced at Lydden. The second run however felt a lot better and I could start to brake a lot later and find a few decent lines. Can't wait now fo another go, so lets just pray for a better day pray:

Spose I'd better get me own car finished now and get ready for next season

Cheers to all that helped out with running two cars that day and thanks to the turbosport crew for turning up to support us, sorry it all ended a bit early!
