CHAMPIONSHIP
Ford Saloon Car Challenge
The Ford Saloon Car Championship was introduced in 1990 to cater for the growing numbers of Ford Saloon Car competitors who wished to just race against other Ford racing saloon cars.
2003 will see another strategic step forward as the Championship consolidates its enormous popularity and sees an abundance of new talent ready to join in the only race championship solely for any Ford race car. Classes A, B, and C are the modified section with cars ranging from Escort Cosworths, through to Mark 1 and 2 Escort RS 2000s and then blindingly quick Fiestas. Classes D and E will mirror the successful classes B and C in terms of types of cars, but differs in that it is for near showroom types.
Hugely popular with spectators and competitors alike, the Ford Saloon Car Championship sees more modern Escort and Sierra Cosworths battling on strong terms with the older but just as quick Mark 2 Escort RS 2000’s.
The Ford Saloon Car Championship has attracted new sponsors for 2003. Tyre manufacturer DUNLOP, is to sponsor the Ford Saloon Car Championship with a new control tyre for the 2003 season and for the following two seasons making stability a key word.
2004 will be the fifteenth successive year that this Championship has run. In 2005 Saw Ford Racing UK gain a TV Deal with Race n Rally on Motors TV to cover every championship round and has been very successful for all competitors. Moving into 2006 will see the Ford Saloons in in 17th Season on Racing and again will have full TV Coverage.
