    I4 Powered Mk1

Bought the rolling shell from an old racer. Structually the car is good but it has some rough bodywork on the panels.

Originally it was a 1968 Gt... I first had a xflow innit but decided to get something more modern n reliable than the xflow.

I decided to use the DOHC 8v it was free n it can the do the job.

Engine now mounted, wired and start...all thats needed is some bodywork(not to pretty cause its a go car not a show car)

    Re: I4 Powered Mk1

Forgot the specs: quite basic but effective

    DOHC 8V 2L
    1.6 Gt Gearbox
    4.1:1 welded Diff
    Koni reds allround
    Toyo proxies F-08 on 13*7 n 13*7 1/2 rims

Thats..it for now, waiting to get the bodywork done...then do upgrades when they are needed through out the year.

it will be a multi purpose car. Circuit, RallyCross, Speed events(hill climbs) or tarmac rallying...

But after its all looking nice i'll see, might not want it getting to beat up.

              Re: I4 Powered Mk1

All the engine mounts i have to fabricate myself to suit me. But basically the ones on the engine where made from old trailling arms from the back of a datsun 120y welded unto a plate i cut out to suit the mounting surface and holes on the block. The Bracket on the Car was Made using a piece of 5mm flat plate with a U section welded to it. That Bracket is bolted to the car. I'll take a pic tomor and post.

                Re: I4 Powered Mk1

On its first outing the Dohc spun No.4 bearing. On closer inpection the crank was slightly bent, engine came from a crash car so its possible. Was thinking of rebuilding it to another spec, but i dont think its wise to try n re-invent the wheel with this engine.

Sense then the car had a quick respray to a gloss black.

Second meet had in a 1720 xflow that was working great throughout the year in another car. This also spun a big end bearing. SO i decided to call it quits for the year(early october) and try to build sumtin reliable for next year.

Had my engine from my old suzuki swift there sense i scrapped the car. enigine proved to be fairly reliable in its street racing days and was rebuilt to a bigger spec before i decided to call it quits with that type of racing.

So now im in the process of fitting this engine in my mk1.

More pics to come next year during the Big rebuild.

Will you be using race fuel for 14:1 c/r?

C16 Vp racing fuel... which is also a lead fuel. The standard and piggy back ECU being used doesnt use an Oxygen sensor only fitting one to tune on the wide band. lead isnt good for oxygen sensors but who cares.

Engine IN. Need to fab a plate for the gearbox and hydraulic slave cylinder then its practically finihsed jus needs bodywork.
