    RS2000 (MK1) Historic Rally car

I have a project thread elsewhere, but i thought i would post up a thread now that the car is finished and competing.

Yesterday we (Isle of Wight Car Club) put on an event at one of our committee members sandpit.

Due to illness i turned up very late in the day and only got 2 runs in (most people had 6), still good enough for 4th place out of 27 competitors though.

i dont know if anyone has any pics of me going broadside as i was so late, but here are a couple anyway.

    arriving hence cleanliness.

Quickly putting the panhard rod bolt back in - forgot to refit it when we changed the CWP during the week, instead if doing in a nice warm garage on the lift, it had to be lying in the mud - that motorsport i guess!

Need to see some after pics when it was muddy I think!! Nothing better than a muddy rallycar.

      Looks great though.

Looks really nice Richard...did try to get out to the car club event but didn't have time in the end. I'll look forward to doing some events when mine's done soon, though I have to say it'll be strictly tarmac for me.

Whats the deal with event's at the moment, any new ones, I must say I hope that it's not reduced to simply muddy events, would be a shame in my opinion?? However, you seem to be very up on trackdays also so hope to do a few once I'm up and togeather with things. Definitely seem to have injected some enthusiasm into the club which is long overdue!

          Will,
the club will be holding a new tarmac event at Blackgang chine penciled in for November.
i dont know if you heard but we lost bookers, which has drastically altered they way in which we will be able to run the championship.

the championship is looking something like this for the new season, but we have to finalise dates etc.

          R1 - Tech May
          R2 – Plessey June
          R3 – Knighton July
          R4 - Hasley September
          R5/R6 – (Healeys) Plessey/Tech – October
          R7 Blackgang November
          R8 Knighton Dec
          R9 Westridge January
          R10 Blackgang February

round 3, 4 and 8 will be off road, but 3 and 4 should be dry as they are around the summer. its unavoidable. i wanted to have the club run a seperate off road and tarmac championship, but that will need to go on the back burner for the time being.

obviously the tarmac events are precious to the club, but at the moment its a really tough job trying to get the venues; conversely, off road is a great deal easier to come by.

          you need to join too!

i think you should stop being a big puff and get the thing on the loose when the car is ready!

Para - thanks alot mate - the scheme is as it was the day it came from Haynes of Maidstone before it embarked on the Tour of Britain 1974.

McCurzon - there were no pics of it dirty! i did go over to a mates farm at the weekend though and had a bit of a muck about in one of his fields though...

This could be 30 years ago eh?

          A little sequence

                            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JaJU67VJDwYouTube - R Weaver.

did an event the other day, was running full avon slicks, whihc silly as it sounds had too much grip.

the pic did not work above - so here it is.
