    Mk2 X-pack rally car

I have an X-Pack Mk2 RS2000 shell that I am about to have some work done on.
The big difference is that the X-pack shell will be used for tarmac rallying rather than sprinting or racing.

I'd like to know what others have or would have done (if they started again) to their shell. A bolt in sd cage is already in, as are round turrets, rear firewall, tank platform, 4 link boxes, diff tunnel & rear tubs for big wheels.
I am going to have a large gearbox tunnel added and the chassis rails seam welded.
What else would you do e.g. is a double bulkhead essential? Etc. Is it worth having the window aperatures and door openings seam welded seeing as my car won't be pounding over rough stages in a yorkshire forest?

Once the shell is complete the bits from my current Group4 Mk2 will go in it.

    All suggestions and views welcomed.

    Cheers,
    John

P.S. I know yorkshire probably has the smoothest forest stages compare to some in Wales and virtually all in Scotland!

its quite old now, but the escort rally prep tells you whay you need to do.
other than that, west wales rally spares would be worth speaking to..

I'd strenghten everything I could, tarmac may be smoother than thru the forest stages but the forces put thru thr shell on tarmac are far higher due to the extra lateral grip and g forces.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I've decide to go the full hog, group4 spec removing the bolt in cage for a multi-point weld in and keeping the plastic x pack wings.
This is how it has started...

Will probably put a few pictures as work gets underway on the projects forum.

          Cheers,

Yes. As the car was more of a project and not doing any competition for a while I started a project thread here:
