i wouldnt worry about having ultra accurate gauges, in a competition car you wont be looking at them except for an occasional glance down the longest straight, as long as they give a reading and your able to notice if they suddenly read differently that all you need, i know quite a few guys who race on cheapo gauages

yeah good point didnt think of that ill be to busy tryna get out of peaples way

not sure how many to go for was thinking a oil pressure , tempreture rev counter and a voltmeter think that should be enough?just the vital stats

got a few bits done last night got my xr2 steering wheel fitted which will do as good stop gap also got my air and breather filter fitted and ive started to make up a cold feed system for the induction unfortunatly no pics tho as i left my camera at home
im hoping what im doing with the filters is right as itll box the filter in and just run of of cold air feeds from the front of the car hopefully tomorow i should get it finished and you can give me some feed back as to how effective itll be

heres a couple more pics. got my new ront end bush set yesterday from flo flex seems pretty good but ill find out properly tomorrow when it comes to fitting it

also the car will be taking a trip to work soon once my bosses alfas been in for its yearly brake free off after its winter brake

only a small update orderd some metal for my strut braces yesterday from metals4u should be with me tommorow then i can get cracking with that

just tryna do odds and ends at the moment whilst i get some money together for a cage
other than the big name companys like safety devices and omp has anyone had good service/prices from any of the smaller firms?

this was part of my fathers day presents from the kids just need to nock somthing up for them to go in now







all i need to do now is find a rev counter that i like as i want a 80mm one but dont really want to spend the earth if i can help it

not been here for a while im back heavy with my training programme(6days a week) after a year and half break from having my youngest son! anyway got my gauges wired up now just waiting for my tool suplier to comme in so i can get some bits to make my dash!

Bad news is i wont be spending any money on it for a while or until i can find a new secure lockup as my garage was broken into over the weekend nothing taken thankfully but im not gunna spend a grand or so on it when its at such a vonurable and easily stolen place!!
its gutting really that you cant have anythink but im not gunna start ranting all im guna say is if i find who it was they best watch there backs

just a thought but won't you need a catch can for the breather?

PS nice little project......................I'll watch closely as I recently got my hands on a MK4 (i think) Fiesta (s reg) as a cheap run around for work with the plan to turn into a track/sprint toy

yeah its on the never ending list of things to do m8 was just a temporary solution.

did have a point were i considerd gettin a mk4 as their not a conventional choice for racing and you can still get good shells cheap.

roll cage will be orderd at the end of november (ive been banned from getting it any earlier as wifeys giving me some money towards it for my birthday)under grahams advice ill be sticking with omp bolt in rather than a custom cage.

lastly the engine a gearbox are coming back out as i regret rushing putting it in without jet washing the bay and engine!whilst the engines out the heads coming of for a freshen up a cam and abit of a fettle

as it was my birthday at the weekend my cage has been orderd and should be with me between the 14th and 21st dec so cars had a hole made for it at work so its gunna be on the move!

cage came before christmas but ive had computer issiues so ive not long had it fixed
so it came and is ready to go in ive gotta weld the brakets for the door bars on and cut the door bars to length just waiting for a space at work to come back as our sales stock has filled the work shop!!grr
before i paint it tho im not sure weather to add to the cage with a dash bar and a horizontal bar near mounting of the rear legs which i could mount my harrnesses of?

as my situation is changing think the mk2 might have to go and make way for my xr2i!its been a tough decision but think its the right 1!ive had the car for a long time so will be sad to selll her but have to be realistic and ill never get either cars done to a good standard so i think im gunna have one great car instead of 2medioca1s!if any ones interested in it give me a pm
