Honda Civic Ek4 Group N rally car

hi lads! my first post here!

i was linked to this website by a mate and really like it some lovely competition cars here!

anyway, i said i'd share some of my work...

the base car started off as a JDM Honda Civic SiR which comes with the B16a DOHC v-tec engine

right gonna let the pictures do the talking!

    thats how she came.

very quickly got to work stripping it to a shell to preparing it for seam welding

then the cage fitting began, its a custom cages CDS multipoint weld in.

then came paint! the owner of the car got a local panel beater to spray her up and he did an awesome job

next came the slowest part the assembly....

due to our lovely weither in ireland it took a week for the paint to harden to the point where i was comfortable working on the car without scratching the lovely new paint!!!!!

first job, try and protect the paint some bit

a few pics of parts that went into the car

3 way damping adjustable and height adjustable Proflex Coilovers

electric plumbed in fire extingusher, electric kill switch and heated front screen.

    some actual assembly

fuel and brake hose were all changed to the braided type and ran through the car

Oh gawd , you followed me here...lol

Remind me Eoghain , how long roughly to install the cage? I know you spend an extra few hours getting it tight to the shell..

i took approximately 2 weeks from a shell to a driving car which needed some suspension set up as you can see!!!

then comes sign writing time, i took AGES to find a design the owner was happy with but this is how it ended up!

        heading for its first rally!

was a very succesful day, with just one small problem, too much rear brakes... the car had carbon lorraine pads all round and once we change from them to forrodo on the rear all was well.

the car has done 3 rallys, 1 sprint and a hillclimb since and done so without a hitch!

there will be a few more updates to come like new bushings, kazz diff and maybe an engine rebuild in the summer, but modifications are limited in the group n class...

i hope you've enjoyed the trip so far!
