Help Wanted: My RS2000 Rally car - Insurance advice also required

    Hi all,
my recent pondering about the new worth of my car given my latest engine and transmission developments brought me here for some advice.

I have a ex-Tour of Britain RS2000 prepared originally my Haynes of Maidstone. It competed on the 1974 Tour. It is an AVO Type 49 shell.

Thats the history behind the vehicle.

    Thanks,
    Richard

Retro - if this car had no history, what are you saying you reckon it is worth?

I agree with you that it is a tough one as nearly all escorts have 'history' although often not good ones!

Needless to say, looking through the various for sale adverts all over the internet, the variation is price is massive.

I guess if you want a sale its different to insurance purposes, which defines the replacement of said vehicle.

To value it you need to look at the sum of its parts

        ie doner shell.. 4k
fabrication restoration .. depending on company 6-9k (you should ask Dave to give you this price )
then the paint .. around 5k
then the parts.. you have the bills ..get the calculator out .. and include nut and bolts and screws ..everything from the front bumper to the rear ..
then labour (hours to fit the car up ) this can be anything between 5-10k (sometimes more )

Thats the total loss price .. ie the cost to replace the car

You add all that lot up, and remember this price is what the insurance has to pay out, the only time you lift a finger is when you sign for the completed replacement car .

Once added up.. let me know how close i was ... i took the history to be 15k so a 35k car minimum

          Car was 9k.
          Gartrac fabrication 9k
          Axle 4.2k
          Brakes 3k
          Engine 13k
          Gearbox 6.5k
Alloy bits sump guard, fuel and dry sump tanks 1k
Suspension front and rear dampers, leafs, 4-link and panhard rod bars 2k
Seats and harnesses, intercom etc 1k

Loads of other stuff puts it well over 50k already.

          Frightening.

I suppose 65k would cover it.
