    Anglia Lotus

Guess it is about time I posted some pics of one of my other cars (while I am still building the Escort ).

It is a fully race prepared 1964 Anglia fitted with a Lotus Twin Cam prepared by CES in the UK. We bought the car a year ago and have been trying to sort out some ignition/electric problems with it. Looks like we are finally getting somewhere after two days at Magny Cours last weekend for the Classic Days (highly recommend attending this event, absolutely fantastic).

Car is 650kg and engine develops 188 bhp, straight cut 4 speed gearbox, discs brakes all around.
Car actually raced in France and Europe in the Saloon Car championship before we bought it (previous owner won a few races with it).

I will let the pics do the talking and should hopefully be able to upload a video from last weekend soon.

Next outing will be Le Mans at the end of the month...... can't wait.

Very nice. Very limited space between the carburators and the inner wheel arch.

Yes it is a great laugh..

We usually turn up to the track and people just look at us going "what is this little box of a car". Then we fire it up and heads start to turn. And by the end of the first session, we end up with a crowd gathering around the car, especiially owners of much more "expensive and/or exclusive" cars which have been left for dead on the track. It is hilarious (seems that people still cannot work out that power to weight ratio makes this car in another league....).

I am not sure of the engine spec to be honest as it was done when we bought the car. Competition Engine Services (Greg Margett) did this engine and it is a scream, reving all the way to 8,500rpm like it will not stop. Actually made a mistake (confused with another car) and it is not 188 but 180 BHP on the dyno sheet...(sorry)

Will be even nicer next year as we are going to give it a complete overhaull over the winter (a little taty in places but I guess that's to be expected after several racing season). Yes it goes really well, apart from the recurring ignition problem that is cursing us. Putting new plug leads, coil, distributor cap, rotor etc etc next week and hope that we can cure it (really want to bring the car over here for a track day but won't until it is all sorted).

Have you fitted fiberglass panels to get the weight down to 650 kg , or is the body standard other than beeing stripped of excess weight sound proffing etc ?

Fiberglass boot, bonnet, doors, front wings. Completely stripped out, lexan windows all around (apart windscreen of course).

Finally looks like we have come to the bottom of our ignition problem and the car ran pretty well at Le Mans two weeks ago (need some fine tuning on the carbs as we seem to have lost some low revs grunt - and some driving lessons for me, was the first time in the wet - much better in the dry...)

At least now the engine is making the right noises
                        Enjoy the videos...

                          Very nice !!

What do you run for front suspension, x-member, sterring & brakes ?

We're building one just now but unsure on which way to go with it.

                          Cheers,
