Hiya.
Joined the forum a while back but have only now gotten time to sort out something to say!
I bought this car as a rolling shell in Denmark:

The paintjob is a replica of one of the original danish Touring car racers back in the day and his son buildt this car a few years ago. Its got turrets, 4 bar links, alloy hubs, english axle with LSD, and all the correct bracing bits in the right places.
Having ummed and aaah'd a while, I got the car shipped over to my buddy in the UK who is now doing some work on it.

Since the plan was to race it in Denmark, I am going with an FIA spec build, and am fitting a slightly hot Twincam engine and correct gearbox which is in the process of being rebuildt.
When thats in, the electrician will show up and reloom the car entirely, race car style, as all the 2nd looms I have found are not up to scratch.
You can also see the builder went a bit nuts with the drill:

Windows have been replaced from 4mm to 5mm plastic to stay within FIA rules and windsheild is now a heated jobbie. So all the winder gubbins have been taken out to save more weight.
The car was not born as a TwinCam but has paperwork as a Mexico even though it looks to have been reshelled back in the day. The original race car does not exist anymore but was raced with a Broadspeed 1100 crossflow in it. I considered this , but would have to spend silly money to build a 9000rpm screamer. Hence also being a Lotus fan, when a mate offered me his spare Twink engine parked in the garage I had to say yes. The heads been reworked to high spec, but I am staying sensible with 40 webers as the bottom end isnt an all out steel build. Maybe later when the bank account recovers lol..
Twink bottom end all cleaned, balanced and reshelled:

It was rebuildt a long time ago, but whomever did it didnt clean the crankshaft out as each journal had a small mountain of gunk on it.. but luckily it was not run at all since the rebuild (see the shiney pistons.. they where like that when we took the head off)
Its an "L" block 701M 6015 casting so seems an appropriate engine to have in the Escort after what I have read on the interweb.
Redid firewall too... was somewhat shonky, but now all sealed and done correctly with an added "patina" effect instead of shiney ali that looks crap when its scratched (wire brush on drill.. but comes out weirder on photos than real life.

Slowly starting to come together now and apart from a few minor hitches it should be ready for next year!
