hello
Hi, my name is Marcin. I'm just a begining fan of retro fords so my expirience in this make is at entry level

My proffesion is architecture but my hobby are old and young timers. There is no such big old ford enthusiasts society here in Poland as there is on the islands, but there are some old ford freaks and intersest in this brand is growing - especially on the tracks due to easy and wide replacement parts accessibility.
So far my expirience with old cars was mainly evolving from japanese models. My first was (I still have it and have raced it untill end of 2010 season) Toyota Corolla GT (a younger sister of more well known AE86) with a rare toyota / yamaha 2T-G engine...1600 cm3 , 8valves, DOHC, 110-125hp stock, coming from 60's....sounds familiar? separate thread for toyota coming soon
But tired of expeditioning for every part and long import timing, in the mid of last year I decided to change my ride to a Ford and begun the search. Also I have won all track events in 2009 in the category up to 1600 in toyota...so it I wanted to go for a more competitive 2L class. Another reason for choosing this brand is that my friend and mechanic is one of biggest old ford fans and experts here, having numerous Capris, Taunus and other models at his garage. The place is www.spidergarage.com and here my new toy is being prepared for 2011 season.

So I have bought a former MkII 1300 GT with automatic transmission (!) escort in the process of rebuildig by previous owner (intersting guy - a vice world champion in gliding). He didn't have time and money to finish the project so I took it over from here. Not so much was done - The body work was sand blasted and the forest arch aluminium kit was pre-attached. Poli-bushes were put in suspension with gaz schock absorbers. Also a Pinto 2.0L engine with type 9 5 speed gearbox was bought for future installation but obviously never had a chance to be tried.
attached (if I manage to upload them...) you will find pics of the car as it was bought / where my story begun and today during preparation.
I already bought (most sources picked up from Retro Ford magazine - thank you!!) many parts and now the car is being installed a proper roll cage. It will be used for track days and some rallyes, mainly on events organized here by www.classicauto.pl (a classic auto cup that takes place for last 4-5 years, app. 100 cars taking part in few categories 4-6 times a year). Maybe also official events (historic class) next year...attached (if I manage to upload them...) you will find pics of the car as it was bought / where my story begun and today during preparation.
cheers
Marcin
