    My Mk1 RS1600 vintage racer

I am vintage racing in Texas with a 1970 Mk1 RS1600. They were never imported to USA by Ford, so parts are very hard to come by here in "The Colonies". Recently made the mistake of going out for a practice session without making sure the bonnet pins were secure, with predictable results. Anyone out there want to sell me a Mk1 Escort bonnet? Don't want to go to fiberglass, want the original steel bonnet. Car is all original, want to keep it that way. YouTube video of the sad bonnet event is posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at3UI9Pmbv8 if interested. On track and off track looks at the car are posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0__C0HfKV0g

Escort Tec in the sponsor's banners above may well ship you a bonnet, give them a call.
Great car, and great to see it racing out there on the videos, and i do like the way you say no one over there knows what it is.
I would still bubble arch her, and get wheels out there, a bigger footprint makes them more stable, so instead of hanging onto those Mustangs bumpers out of the corners, you'll be able to take them through the corner and get a few lengths on them

Forgot to mention that me and English Fords go way back. I prepared and raced a 997cc Anglia in SCCA D Sedan class in 1966-1967, then acquired an ex-works Lotus Cortina and raced it in SCCA B Sedan and IMSA U-2 from 1968-1971. Only non-EnFo drive was a 5 Liter Camaro for Sebring 12 Hour in 1970 & 1971, and Daytona 24 Hour in 1970.

          Hi Don
thats a lovely car, a really revvy little engine.

The video was Excellent. Though not the one with the mishap with the bonnet, I really felt for you then!!
I saw you smack the side of your bash hat in your own disbelief....

Garys right, Escort Tec's probably the guys for a bonnet.

          Rob..

What a superb car, nice to see it

I hate to argue with Gary but personally I would not arch it, from your commentary in the video it sounds like it would not be allowed in the regulations anyway.

Good luck with the search for a bonnet !
