I dont think it matters as long as they calculate the flywheel power using the 5th gear ratio instead of 1:1. I can only assume they have done some frs's before and so know what to do, maybe it is to stop it wheelspinning on the rollers? (although im pretty sure they are very good grip wise!)

    Re: Rolling Road Shootout

just got home too and it didnt kill the engine

78bhp and 75lbft... which i was pretty happy with to be fair, expecting alot less from the little xflow, and apparently "wEeRrr" is a technical term for going all over the place as it did at about 6000rpm, if i can get the electrics sorted, and stop pouring fuel in should see a bit more

    cheers

It dosnt matter what gear they run the car in, its all based around the ability of you car to accellerate the known mass of the drum.

If you were observant you would have seen them run the car up so the roller was exactly spinning at 60mph then press a button, thats all the calibration thats required.

    exactly right

if fact if you calibrate the 60mph speed for one gear and do a run in another gear the power figure comes out exactly the same, but the torque curve will be in the wrong place, i know, my car has a dog leg gearbox with a direct 5th gear, so we run muine in 5th to reduce rear wheel torque but dave often forgets that and does a power run in 4th instead, then has to do it again in 5th, always but always the power fig comes out the same, its only the the rpms which go out,
