It def makes a nice difference, more revvy, feels a fair bit quicker too, I got a power graph from the previous owner and its running at 120bhp, combined with a magnex from CAT back, (prob doesnt too much anyway as the CAT is still in place) and a piper x filter, nice sound too, not raspy.

A Bluefin might be on the cards then, though to be honest, I still don't fully understand. Where is the diagnostics port anyhoo? Does this I mean I could buy one and also use it on my brother's Zetec-S? (Silver one behind mine in the picture).


Dowie, yours probably sounds the same as mine (K&N with Magnex cat-back). Definitely not raspy and not the usual low, boomy, "DOOOOOOP" sound that you get when you stick an induction kit on a low powered car.
Listen out for the 1.0 12v Corsa running an induction kit...
DOOOOOOOOOOP!!!
...and not really getting anywhere!

The diagnostic port is in the kick pannel in passanger foot well.

Unless you've told the insurance company about that airfilter, I'd take it off, they don't add any power.

I had one on my FRP for a rolling road shootout with other FRP's and it was the same, I took it off later and it felt more torquey (sp?)

The insurance company know about all the mods. I'm just too safe and boring to 'risk' not telling them about it. Cost just over £50 more than saying it was standard.

You may be right about the filter, I've raced my brother's standard ZS (on a private road with all appropriate safety gear and emergency crews standing by, of course ) and we were both pretty much matched.

Looking for a 50bhp shot of N2O, I reckon.

Dunno 'bout the ST170 lump.


Thinking about changing the car to be honest. I love it but it attracts a lot of bad or unwanted attention and isn't really practical in day-to-day use.


Then I'll nail the country lanes into work and change my mind back again. Don't know what to do.

I wish!...no really, I do!


It's strange, isn't it? It's almost EXACTLY matched, performance wise, to the Mk2 XR2 I had before it, but the XR never felt slow. With this, I'm constantly wishing it was quicker.


I think it must be because of the feel and handling. If you hustled the XR2 up to near 80 on my route to work, you were going some. You were approaching the limit and the car was becoming a bit of a handful. 80 on those same roads in the ZS, is nothing. Irritating, considering it takes pretty much the same time to get up to that speed in both cars.


I've spent the last couple of years saying to everyone that speed doesn't matter, I'd just like a car that handles well. Now I realise, I want both.
