    Transporters I used to drive

The first truck is the one I used to do European work in.The beetles on there were the first ones into the UK,picked up from Antwerp docks, where that pic was taken ...

This second pic is the one I drove in the UK when I'd had enuff of long periods away. These triple deckers are too high for Europe as their motorway bridges are lower than ours.It is approx 16 ft,depending on how it's loaded and with what/how many cars.I used a telescopic measure evrytime so I knew the exact height and never managed to hit any bridges

This last one is a draw-bar.A different configuration and alot easier to manoever than the artic. It has a more versatile body as well.

Excellent pics mate! That was a job that i always wanted to do, but decided that the town manoevering transporters have to do would just be too tricky for me. You're right about the cabin, it doesn't look like the biggest thing I ever seen. I'd be a nightmare transporting new cars, I'd be stopping every minute to either look at them, or to check that they were still 100% fastened down!

Sounds like a fun thing to do, have you been all over europe?
Just read you reply to Sapphy in his AML post. Where were the worst roads then? You must have seen some shockers in your time on the road, or are they all better than the UK! lol

now we know whoes resposible for all the Saxos on the roads!

The only European country I never took the truck to was Ireland, because the ferry is way too expensive. So we used to get Irish firms to stick the shagged vehicles on the ferries and I'd pick them up in Holyhead or wherever.

Good pics m8..As i get called out to them in my job, they can be a nightmare to work on.The rear air bags, brake chambers.Theres just no room unless yo drop a few cars off the bottom, beleive me.Also the draw bar units are a pain. You cant front end lift them, only pull them on the straight bar with ya wreckers.Great fun for your fore arms if they dont run...lol
This is FORD country, on a quiet night, you can hear vauxhall`s rusting......
