    IT LIIIIIIIVES!!!

Sad I know but I spent ages getting the carbs balanced so here's how it sounds now. Still not fully set up but...

    It Liiiives!

Also here's a pic of how the car looks now. New shocks go on this weekend to drop the front for tarmac type shenanigans

      Cheers Steve

Gonna take it out for a shakedown this weekend so hopefully I'll get some footage of it on full chat - circa 8,500 rpm

That's a serious beastie you've got there. Looks superb

          Steve

It's a 1700 x-flow but it been fettled a little. I'm not 100% sure what's been done to it and the guy who had it before me has had to best guess, but it revs to 8,500 all day and can even hit 9!! I may set the limiter a little lower than that though as I don't want things going bang on me

If you go to the profile section on my web site there's a couple of pics and some details there.

I look forward to seeing the update on yours. I had a good look through the web site earlier. Nice

            Cheers Andy,

Just had a look at your site, I dont know why I didn't thing of that before
            V. Nice, will look better when you get the tarmac springs on tho'

Any how, I reckon you got a steel bottom end in there to allow it to rev that high, steel rods at least and probably forged pistons too, as it wouldn't last very long otherwise,
well, not when you rev it to 9k
cast pistons tend to break up around the ring area if rev'd much beyond 7-7.5k frequently.
it could well be a ex hot rod engine or similar? 'cos they tend to rev well

would be wise to set your rev limiter a little lower though

Yer can'na beat he sound of twin carbs and 9000 rpm, pure music to my ears

            Steve

Yup, i saw that ad mate although thanks for reminding me about it. I am a bit out of pocket at the moment though (just bought my Mk2 and having a bit of work done it), so unless they stay available for a while i will have to look elsewhere.
Thanks all the same, hope i get to see your Mk1 in action oneday soon.

took the car over for it's test today and although it needs a bit of welding there's nothing too scary
