Re: From Rallycross car to GT4 Racing Escort RWD "G3"
Hi folks
It have been a while since i last posted here.
The care is always under construction, and have been tested some times, i finished 7 th of 14 in my first race whit bad brakes and a gear box that jumped out off 3 rd gear so, i was quite happy whit that, the next race i only had problems whit the engine so it now needs an complete look over.
I had the car on corner weighting before the first race, and i was sure that the car had gained some weight, and tougth it had to be at least 1100 kg, but it was only 965 kg, but i had to put inn 78 kg off weight, since the minimum weigth off my car inn my clas had to be 1120 kg whit me inn it acros the finish line.
The first test of the new built car.
Running on slicks and to smal master pump on the front brakes.
Re: From Rallycross car to GT4 Racing Escort RWD "G3"
Not to much have been done here recently. Due to engine failure there hve not been much joy.
But things are now locking a bit brigther for 2014, i have bougth an new engine from Ringspeed, 2,5 Us pinto, and an new gear box quaife 60G. so hopefully i will get some more time behind the stering wheel next year.
The new engine
So for this winther its al abaut making this new engine and box fit into the car, and some oter modifications to make it bether
A pic from the last race when the old engine blew.
In its new garage
I have also been working on a new race car, this is low budget an just for fun, the goal is to make it as ligth as posible and to be race redy whit me in it at 850 kg. It wil run an zetec and a quaife 26Z gear box, volvo rear axel, 2 link and panhard. up front some gp1 and 4 parts.
There are some work left, like cage and some oter smal things, before paint.

hi Andreas, what happened to the volvo ? i have bought one of those to make a change , was it a EVO 2 ? going to build a car similar to your RWD mk3/4 escort for a change also. might be interested in the head etc if there not damaged.

mark.
Hi there
It was an 531 head, built in Sweden by Bengans racing.
The head was badly damaged due to a sick fuel pump and a water pump that lost the belt.
Sold the Volvo engine i August.
It was a great engine when it was working!
Some pictures of the damages.
You must take some pictures of your Escort RWD mk3 / 4 build, locking forward to se how it turns out
Re: From Rallycross car to GT4 Racing Escort RWD "G3"
yes a shame that happened , heres you going for more for what we use in the uk and i,am going to try what you use in scandinavia ! upto yet i have only collected the engine and a zetec why i do not know why i bought that one, zetecs are cheap at the moment. So the hunt for a car starts after christmas,i have a few to look at.
Re: From Rallycross car to GT4 Racing Escort RWD "G3"
Yes its strange i gues, aproxematly 80% off those who drive rallycross here in Norway are using Volvo engines, since they are easy and cheep to get parts to, and robust, the rest 20% are using Duratec, BMW, Wankel and some other engines. There is also an Swede that drives an Sierra whit an Volvo engine in racing, simular to mine old engine and yours, wich goes realy god, beating Ginetta G50s. So its not an dum idea.
You shoud take an lock at these pages, maybe it can be useful for your engine?
Re: From Rallycross car to GT4 Racing Escort RWD "G3"
hi Andreas, thanks for taking the time to send the links, i have one or two options ,prefer a escort but i have found a mk1 RWD golf which is rare and interesting also, might even have a go at that.
